ST-TOUR No 08 - 7 Days

On this six-day camping safari, you will explore the four most impressive nature reserves in North Tanzania. Along with the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater, you will visit the Tarangire and the Lake Manyara National Park.

Best time to travel: June - March
On “The Wild Side” safari, you will experience it all starting from fantastic wildlife watching to the impressive land and the lifestyle of the people. You will visit the highlights of North Tanzania such as the Tarangire National Park, Lake Natron, the Serengeti and at the end of your trip the crowning glory; the Ngorongoro Crater. Unique to this safari is the route alongside Lake Natron with its gigantic flamingo colony. Unlike other safaris, it is also possible to travel in and out of the Serengeti along different routes that takes you a little away from the tourist route with a more ‘off the beaten track’ feel and sense of adventure.

Day 1 Arusha, Tanzania - Tarangire National Park, Tanzania
After your arrival at the airport or your breakfast at your respective hotel, you will be collected from your point of departure. Following a short briefing and after loading the luggage into the vehicle, you will be off in the direction of the Tarangire National Park. This park has diverse landscapes and the variety of wildlife is undoubtedly one of the most attractive in northern Tanzania. Along with the largest elephant population in East Africa, it is also the home to many different large cats such as lions, leopards and cheetahs and you will also see plenty of giraffes, buffalos, zebras and various types of antelopes and gazelles. Until the late afternoon you will have plenty of time for wildlife watching in the national park. You will stay overnight in tents. Lunch; Dinner

Day 2 Tarangire Area, Tanzania - Lake Natron, Tanzania
After breakfast, you will leave the area around Tarangire and head in the direction of Mto wa Mbu. Via exciting tracks along the Rift Valley Escarpment, you will travel to Lake Natron. This route is an ‘insider’s tip’ and has only recently been opened up to tourists. After passing Masai villages, you will then travel on to the famous mountains of the Rift Valley; Mount Gelai or the Oldoinyo Lengai ‘the holy mountain of the Masai’. Today’s destination is the beautiful small Masai village of Ngare Sero. With its trees offering shade and a nearby waterfall, it is just what an oasis should be in the hot, dry and dusty Rift Valley. In the distance, a pink glow shimmers from thousand of flamingos breeding on the alkaline Lake Natron. You will stay overnight at a campsite near to the lake itself. Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 3 Lake Natron, Tanzania- Serengeti Lobo Area, Tanzania
After an early start, you will travel along exciting dirt tracks with wondrous views as your vehicle climbs out of the Rift Valley to reach the wide-open plains of the Serengeti by midday. The Serengeti is the most famous park in Tanzania as it is home to the largest animal migration on the planet. The migrating animals are free to roam where they please and are not confined solely to the park boundaries. However, it has been witnessed that they are straying further afield and to this date, the wildlife watching can only be described of as spectacular. You will stay overnight at a campsite in the Serengeti National Park. Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 4 Serengeti Seronera Area, Tanzania
After an early start, you will participate in an early morning wildlife tour. Back at camp, a hearty breakfast will be waiting for you, which will be followed by further wildlife watching in the Serona Valley. You will stay overnight at a camping place in the Serengeti National Park. Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 5 Serengeti, Tanzania - Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania
The morning is set aside for further wildlife watching in the Serengeti. After midday, you will leave the plains and travel to the Ngorongoro Crater. You will camp at a campsite directly on the crater’s edge, which affords a view that is just simply jaw dropping. Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 6 Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania - Karatu, Tanzania
You will have breakfast at dawn before travelling down the seemingly hanging walls into the crater below. Here, within a fewer square kilometres, you can find practically the complete cross section of all the animals that can be found on the entire East African savannah. Naturally, this is one of the best places to capture the magnificent but endangered black rhinoceros on film and experience some of the best wildlife watching available. After lunch, you will travel back towards Karatu and stay overnight at a campsite not too far away. Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 7 Karatu, Tanzania - Arusha, Tanzania
After a late breakfast, you will start your journey back to Arusha. At Lake Manyara, you will leave the crater highlands behind and your vehicle will descend the steep slopes into the Rift Valley below. You will once again get the chance to view the imposing scenery of the East African graben or fault zone and you will return to Arusha by early afternoon. Depending upon your plans, you can catch a return flight with CONDOR directly or you can stay another night and catch a direct flight from Kilimanjaro Airport with a connecting or direct flight to Zanzibar.
